The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore would like to announce Matt Parker, Director of Sales & Marketing at Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, has accepted the position of Chairman of the 2016-2017 Fundraising Campaign for the United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore is a local volunteer organization established in 1991 by business people and community leaders who recognized the need to have a local organization that would be dedicated to helping the people of Virginia’s Eastern Shore including Accomack and Northampton Counties by organizing and helping to raise financial support from local businesses and individuals for a variety of local charities. Matt will be kicking off his 2016-2017 Fundraising Campaign with the event below!

Mary McKenna and Robie Marsh have been named chairman of the 2015 United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore fundraising campaign.
The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore is a local volunteer organization established in 1991 by business people and community leaders who recognized the need to have a local organization that would be dedicated to helping the people of Virginia’s Eastern Shore by organizing and helping to raise financial support from local businesses and individuals for a variety of local charities.
The United Way Chapter has raised almost $6 million as it soon begins its 25th campaign, aiding over 150 organizations that receive funds either allocated by United Way or designated by individual contributors.
The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore held its annual Thank You Breakfast for the 2013 Campaign Coordinator at the Eastern Shore Yacht and County Club on May 7, 2014. Without the dedication of these individuals, the campaigns of the United Way would not be as successful. Lucero Diaz, the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, was the speaker. The breakfast was sponsored by Tyson Foods. Wendy’s Restaurant gave Gift Cards to all Coordinators. Plaques were presented to Perdue Farms and Tyson Foods for their outstanding support of the United Way Awards were given to businesses who reach certain goals. We had an outstanding campaign kick-off breakfast with a record breaking 100 attending! Thanks to our guest speaker, former NFL player T.J. Washington, and all who attended.
People from all walks of life make donations to the United Way. Here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where we have raised over over 5 million dollars in pledges over the last 22 years, our donations come from the generosity of our residents and also from local businesses.
- 90% employee and individual donations
- 10% corporate and small business
Over 3,700 contributors gave last year. Many people (about 3,400) take advantage of payroll deduction to give generously throughout the year. If you haven’t choosen this option, ask your employer for details. It’s an easy way to give back to the community. You can select the amount you wish to give and it will automatically be deducted from each paycheck for one year.
