The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore would like to announce Matt Parker, Director of Sales & Marketing at Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, has accepted the position of Chairman of the 2016-2017 Fundraising Campaign for the United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore is a local volunteer organization established in 1991 by business people and community leaders who recognized the need to have a local organization that would be dedicated to helping the people of Virginia’s Eastern Shore including Accomack and Northampton Counties by organizing and helping to raise financial support from local businesses and individuals for a variety of local charities. Matt will be kicking off his 2016-2017 Fundraising Campaign with the event below!
Giving Local & Living United Dinner & Auction Fundraiser
The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore announced it surpassed its $300,000 goal and presented awards to the top contributors recently at a breakfast held at the Eastern Shore Community College Workforce Development building.
The 2015-16 campaign concluded in April with a total of $307,100 that will be distributed to approximately 150 nonprofit organizations which provide a variety of services to Eastern Shore residents.
Funds go to provide emergency food and shelter, family counseling, health services, youth development and recreation programs in addition to many other services needed in the community. Costs are kept low with one part-time employee and the efforts of local volunteers. In the 25 years since the founding of the United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, almost $6 million has been raised.

Mary McKenna and Robie Marsh have been named chairman of the 2015 United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore fundraising campaign.
The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore is a local volunteer organization established in 1991 by business people and community leaders who recognized the need to have a local organization that would be dedicated to helping the people of Virginia’s Eastern Shore by organizing and helping to raise financial support from local businesses and individuals for a variety of local charities.
The United Way Chapter has raised almost $6 million as it soon begins its 25th campaign, aiding over 150 organizations that receive funds either allocated by United Way or designated by individual contributors.
The United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore held its annual Thank You Breakfast for the 2013 Campaign Coordinator at the Eastern Shore Yacht and County Club on May 7, 2014. Without the dedication of these individuals, the campaigns of the United Way would not be as successful. Lucero Diaz, the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, was the speaker. The breakfast was sponsored by Tyson Foods. Wendy’s Restaurant gave Gift Cards to all Coordinators. Plaques were presented to Perdue Farms and Tyson Foods for their outstanding support of the United Way Awards were given to businesses who reach certain goals.
